The World Bank, which suspended aid to Kabul in late August after the Taliban returned to power, is now considering returning humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.
The institute would redeploy the funds from the trust fund for the country’s reconstruction, a source reports to AFP.
The board will discuss with the board of directors on Tuesday whether the resources of the Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund (ARTF) can be used as humanitarian aid.
However, this is an “informal” meeting. There will be no “announcement,” the source said. A final decision will only be made after discussions with ARTF donors.
The ARTF is a multi-donor trust fund that coordinates international aid and aims to improve the lives of millions of Afghans.
