Russian troops have made “little progress” in the Donbas since focusing on this eastern Ukrainian area, but no breakthrough has been made.

The British Ministry of Defense reports this in its daily intelligence update.

Defense also reports that the Ukrainian army has “exhausted” many Russian troops with the defence of Mariupol. According to the ministry, many Russian troops are also trapped in this city.

Moreover, the military cannot be deployed elsewhere because of the siege of the Azovstal steel factory, the last Ukrainian stronghold.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said last week he would not proceed with the storming of the factory. Still, according to an adviser to the Ukrainian president, that does not correspond to reality.

He said on Sunday that Russians were trying to storm the factory. In addition to Ukrainian defenders, there are also civilians on the industrial site.
