The German government officially launched the corona app on Tuesday and expected it to be widely used by the population.
“Downloading and using it is a small step for each of us, but a big step in the fight against the pandemic,” said Chancellor Chief Helge Braun at the presentation in Berlin.
The app has been available for download on smartphones since Tuesday morning.
The app warns participants if they have been within two meters of someone who has been infected with the coronavirus for a more extended period of time.
They can then be tested. The system only works if people volunteer.
Germany is not the first country in the world to have a corona app. Berlin thinks it has the best at home with the Corona-Warn App.
