Bush: US Army Leaving Afghanistan A Mistake

Taliban Reject Afghan Government Negotiating Team

The Taliban refuse to enter into peace talks with the Afghan government team. The composition of the delegation does not meet the requirements of the strict Islamic group.

According to Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, “not all Afghan factions” are represented.

The Afghan government announced the composition on Thursday.

The United States Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, was delighted with the “inclusive” composition of the negotiating team.

Last month, the US and the Taliban signed an agreement to allow negotiations between the insurgents and the Afghan government.

For a long time, the Taliban refused to speak to President Ashraf Ghani and called him an American straw man.

In exchange for starting talks, the Americans and their allies will withdraw from the country for the next 14 months.
