The Russian authorities suspend the use of a respirator after fatal hospital fires. These are Aventa-M devices that were produced after 1 April, supervisor Roszdravnadzor announced.
The respirators made in Russia were in use at the hospital in Saint Petersburg, where five people were killed by a fire on Tuesday.
The hospital in Moscow, where a person died on Saturday, also used the Aventa-M.
The regulator previously announced that it would check the quality and safety of the respirators in the affected hospitals.
The devices are used, among other things, in the treatment of critically ill patients with Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.
That virus is increasingly widespread in Russia. The authorities announced on Wednesday that more than 10,000 new infections have come to light.
In total, more than 242,000 people in the country have been diagnosed with the virus. The official death toll is 2212.
