Unemployment in the eurozone fell slightly to 7.4 percent in September, reports the European statistical office Eurostat.

The fall in unemployment, which has been going on for months, goes hand in hand with the economic recovery from the corona crisis. It is known that the strong recovery from the crisis has increased the demand for people.

In August, 7.5 percent of the labour force in the euro countries was still without a job. In September 2020, when many more entrepreneurs were affected by corona restrictions, the unemployment rate was 8.6 percent. Thus, in one year, the number of unemployed fell by more than 2 million.

Unemployment is much higher among young people, but on average, there has been a sharper decline. Of the entire labour force under 25 in the eurozone, 16 percent was unemployed in September. Unemployment among women also remains higher than among men.
