Dead and Injured in Airstrikes on Gaza Strip

According to local authorities, Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip have killed at least 24 people, including nine children. More than a hundred people have been injured.

According to Israeli forces, 15 Palestinian fighters were killed in the attacks.

The Gaza Strip is one of the most densely populated places in the world, with approximately two million inhabitants in just 365 square kilometres. After the Palestinian movement, the airstrikes were carried out controlling the strip, Hamas, bombarded Israel with approximately 250 missiles. In addition, according to Israeli media, at least seven people were injured in the city of Ashkelon on Monday.

An Israeli army spokesman said that 140 times targets in the Gaza Strip had been targeted. Israel is said to carry out more airstrikes, and some media speculate that it is contemplating re-invading the strip with ground troops. Hamas has threatened to make Ashkelon “hell” if Israel continues to attack.

Hamas began harassing Israel in response to the violent riots in Jerusalem. Since the weekend, Palestinians have been protesting mainly around the al-Aqsa Mosque against new expropriations and expulsions of Arab residents in East Jerusalem, occupied by Israel in 1967. About 60 original residents of the Arab district of Sheikh Jarrah have to leave their homes to make way for Jewish settlers.
