Chilean taekwondo player Fernanda Aguirre will miss the Tokyo Olympics. On arrival in Japan, the 21-year-old tested positive for corona.
“She is healthy and feeling well, but unfortunately, she has to quarantine for ten days and therefore has to skip the Games,” said the Chilean Olympic Committee.
Aguirre had prepared for the Games in Uzbekistan. Her positive test came as a blow to her. “This is so very sad,” she said on social media.
The Dutch team is also dealing with the first corona case. Skateboard star Candy Jacobs tested positive for Covid-19 and has been quarantined for ten days. Nor can she participate in the Games.
According to the organization, there are now 79 positive corona cases related to the Games.
