China on Monday announced new military maneuvers in response to the “provocation” by the visit of a delegation from the US parliament to Taiwan.
Taiwanese Prime Minister Tsai Ing-wen received the five US MPs on Monday.
Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian spoke of violating Chinese sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In response, the Chinese military will again conduct air and sea maneuvers around Taiwan. The Chinese military will also “prepare for war” to guarantee Chinese sovereignty and resolutely crush any form of separatism in Taiwan and foreign interference.
China considers Taiwan a renegade province; Taiwan considers itself independent. Earlier this month, China had a similar response in store after US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan.
