Apple has settled a class-action lawsuit for $ 18 million. Angry users had accused Apple of deliberately sabotaging the FaceTime video service in iOS 6 to force users to upgrade to iOS 7.
The settlement is evident from court documents that have been published.
It is a case from 2017, which other users could also join. They will receive damages of $ 3 per affected device, making the settlement worth $ 18 million in total.
The iOS 7 mobile operating system uses a different technology to set up FaceTime connections.
Due to the switch, the video service on devices with iOS 6 no longer functioned and users were advised to upgrade to iOS 7.
