On Monday, nine evacuation routes were reopened in eastern Ukraine for civilians fleeing fighting areas. People from the hard-fought city of Mariupol can leave the city with their transport to Zaporizhzhya, Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk reported.

People in Berdyansk, where there is heavy fighting, are also allowed to leave the city with their own transport. In other areas, government buses may be used to evacuate people.

On Sunday, nine so-called corridors were also opened. According to Vereshchuk, 2800 Ukrainians were then taken to safety.

Russia and Ukraine accuse each other of sabotaging the evacuations. According to Vereshchuk, Russian soldiers stopped people in Berdyansk and Enerhodar over the weekend.
