The American Actors and Media Personality Union SAG-AFTRA will meet on Tuesday to discuss outgoing President Donald Trump’s expulsion.
If Trump is banned from the union, it could mean that he will never be able to return to his beloved show The Apprentice, the website Deadline reports.
Before Trump became president, he was seen for years on the television shows The Apprentice and Celebrity Apprentice, where the winners landed jobs with his company. Children Ivanka, Don Jr. and Eric were featured on the show as board members. It earned him high ratings at the time and saved him from financial ruin, The New York Times reported in September.
Trump has been a member of the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) since 1989 but is now under fire following the storming of the Capitol on January 6. It takes two-thirds of the votes to expel him. The first meeting on Tuesday is only the first step in a long process.
According to the apolitical organization, members can be banned if they disgrace the union’s integrity and ideals. The union has previously criticized Trump after calling the media “America’s greatest enemy,” while many union members are working in the media.
Earlier, there was a call on Twitter to remove Trump from the movie Home Alone 2, in which he has a cameo. He was seen in a scene with protagonist Macaulay Culkin, who came to sleep like a little kid in Trumps Plaza Hotel in New York. Culkin responded to the tweet by saying that he is in favour of removing Trump from the film.
