In Villejuif, south of Paris, a man attacked bystanders with a knife. A person died in the process. Two others were injured, one of whom was severe. The police shot the perpetrator. Who he is or why he attacked is not yet known.
According to the mayor of Villejuif, the perpetrator attacked people in a park and then fled to a shopping centre in the neighbouring district of l’Haÿ-Les-Roses.
He was shot by the police there. Reportedly, the officers feared that the perpetrator was wearing a bomb belt.
The perpetrator made a fatal victim, according to the mayor of Villejuif, he is a 56-year-old man walking in the park with his wife.
He wanted to protect her against the attacker and was therefore hit by the knife himself. Two others were injured, one of whom was severe. Why the man attacked is not yet known.
The incident happens a few days before the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attack on the editors of Charlie Hebdo, now almost five years ago.
